Oldest City: St Augustine FL

MM 778

We departed the Palm Coast marina at 7:30 am, in order to clear the fuel dock where we overnighted. The marina is well-run and comfortable with excellent staff, as noted in several marina reviews.

We experienced the first sunrise of the

trip, and those of you who know Don

and I well know that we are more

“sunset” than “sunrise” people.

This part of the ICW was scenic and calm. We arrived at St Augustine Municipal Marina a little after 11am, and Captain Don expertly maneuvered into slip #33 against a very sporty current.

The afternoon included attendance at the St Augustine Seafood Festival, walking around Old Town, visiting the fort, and enjoying sangria and tapas on a balcony restaurant overlooking George St and the Hispanic Garden. It’s a walkable town with shops, eateries, and historic buildings.

In the evening, we met two couples at the marina and enjoyed sharing boating stories in the cockpit of a gorgeous new 45’ Formula. Boat people are so interesting!
